Civil status

All civil status events that mark a person's life, from birth to death, are recorded in the Swiss civil status register.

Swiss abroad and their spouses or registered partners have to report all civil status events, declarations and decisions to the Swiss representation responsible for their place of residence. Various civil status documents are therefore required.
