Instruments and Modalities
Combining bilateral, multi-country and regional interventions, Switzerland’s engagements in Peace and Governance, Human Development and Economic Development corresponds to the top priority National Development Plans of partner countries and regional policies of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the African Union (AU) and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
Switzerland will continue efforts to maintain a balanced mix of partnerships, selecting partners based on their capacities and risk profiles. Cooperation modalities include bilateral and multilateral instruments. Switzerland will prioritize contributions, including co-creation and cost-sharing models both with public and private sector actors. The localization agenda will be further promoted.
Switzerland places strong emphasis on gender equality, climate resilience, good governance and conflict-sensitivity. Policy dialogue at national and regional level are systematically promoted, as well as donor coordination and aid effectiveness principles including reform.
