The overall goal for Switzerland is to contribute to an inclusive and peaceful Somalia and adjacent arid and semi-arid lands in Northeastern Kenya and Southeastern Ethiopia through the promotion of sustainable economic and human development and bottom-up state building, benefitting the most vulnerable segments of the population. The Swiss actors involved all contribute to the same 3 outcomes and their corresponding goals of:

  • Peace and Governance: Empowered communities, especially women and youth, effectively participate in governance, while strengthened institutions are more inclusive, accountable and affordable, enabling a stronger social contract.
  • Human Development: Sustainable provision and use of basic services (health, water) and reduced protection risks and humanitarian needs for (agro)-pastoralist and displacement affected communities, especially women and youths.
  • Inclusive and Climate Resilient Economic Development: Inclusive and climate-resilient economic systems improve livelihoods and reduce poverty by creating sustainable incomes for displacement affected communities and (agro)-pastoralists, especially for women and youth
